Abstract

Exosome-based therapeutics represent a promising frontier in drug delivery systems, leveraging the natural properties of extracellular vesicles to enhance therapeutic efficacy and targeting precision. These nanometer-sized vesicles, secreted by various cell types, facilitate intercellular communication and possess inherent biocompatibility, making them ideal candidates for delivering a wide range of therapeutic agents, including small molecules, proteins, and nucleic acids. This review discusses the potential of exosome-derived biomaterials in next-generation drug delivery, highlighting their advantages over traditional systems, such as improved stability, targeted delivery, and reduced immunogenicity. We also explore recent advancements in exosome engineering and production techniques, their applications in various diseases, and the challenges that remain in translating these technologies into clinical practice. By providing a comprehensive overview, this paper aims to elucidate the role of exosome-based therapeutics in revolutionizing drug delivery strategies
