Abstract
This paper displays on the evolution (past, current and future) of the ‘psychology of programming' over the 50 12 months length of this anniversary issue. The International Journal of Human-Computer Studies (IJHCS) has been a key venue for an awful lot seminal work in this field, inclusive of its first foundations, and we assessment the altering lookup issues considered in publications over these 5 decades. We relate this thematic evolution to lookup taking vicinity over the equal duration inside extra professional communities, mainly the Psychology of Programming Interest Group (PPIG), the Empirical Studies of Programming sequence (ESP), and the ongoing neighborhood in Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing (VL/HCC).
